Hamilton Crane Operator Classes - For the operators and the supervisors, new and current, the crane operator training course is suitable for all. Course content deals with relevant provincial, state and federal safety regulations. The first part of training includes comprehensive in-class instruction and examination. After that is a hands-on customized session together with practical lessons and assessment.
Course content applies to all types and categories of overhead lifting machines. Particular instruction would concentrate on aspects of crane operation used at the workplace of the trainee. Upon completing the course, people training would know how to operate specific overhead lifting machines, attachments and related parts safely and efficiently.
The purpose of the operator course is to identify any potentially dangerous habits which an operator can develop when operating an overhead crane. Costly damage to products and equipment can be avoided with proper habits. Training lessens the likelihood of a workplace incident or injury happening.
The length of the course is eight hours of classroom instruction followed by a few hours of customized, on-site, hands-on training. Participants are graded on their understanding of training material through written tests and an assessment of their practical knowledge. The minimum acceptable score is 80 percent.
In the in-class session, participants will know applicable legislation and guidelines, causes of occurrences and damages, internal responsibility, danger awareness, basic equipment and design principles, capacity ratings/load weight calculations, safe hosting/operating methods, pre-shift equipment inspections, equipment applications/rigging, types of hardware, pedestrian/operator safety, angles and hitches, flipping/turning loads safely, hand signals for operators and slingers.
The customized practical training and evaluation session must be pre-scheduled. It would be held at the trainees' facility after completion of the in-class session. The duration of this practical training part is one to two hours. The instructor will train two operators at a time about skills like right rigging practices, safe operation and planning the lift.
Upon finishing the practical operating instruction and evaluation and the in-class instruction, the trainee will write a test. Signed safety rules will be needed from each and every participant. Trainees who are successful will be provided with individual wallet certificates. The company would be given a framed wall certificate.
