Hamilton Forklift Instructor Training - For those lift truck operators who would like to become a lift truck instructor it is recommended that they finish a forklift Instructor training certification program. Entry qualifications for the forklift instructor training requires the lift truck operator to have extensive knowledge about forklift machinery and skills driving forklifts. Instructor training usually is held at an equipment sales facility or at the campus of a junior college, community college, or vocational or technical school. Forklift manufacturing businesses occasionally offer train the trainer, practical, hands-on courses.

Whether offered in a classroom environment or at a manufacturing company facility, registering for the program would involve paying a tuition fee, and purchasing manuals, book or other materials. Course length varies depending on the course. Participants generally have to have satisfactory test scores, participation and demonstration throughout the course in order to qualify for trainer certification.

Instructor courses normally assume that participants have past experience as forklift operators. The focus of the instructor training is on subjects such as teaching techniques, ethics, curriculum design and safety issues. Participants would know how to demonstrate to their students various aspects of lift truck utilization, such as navigating the forklift in narrow isles or stacking and moving materials. Participants will know how to evaluate student's written exams and demonstrations of their forklift operating skills. The course goal is to prepare trainers to design and execute their own forklift training programs.

Some self-study of the machinery and manuals is needed. Trainers will be expected to create their own curriculum, that meets regulation guidelines in terms of subjects presented, such as Safety and Operation. For example, the topic of Safety must comprise an understanding of how to identify possible hazards. The subject of Operation consists of instruction regarding attaching and utilizing, controls and instruments and maneuvering and steering the fork.
